- the history stretches back to the 1280s

Turku Castle and Historical Museum

The history of Turku Castle stretches back to the 1280s. The castle's heyday was in the mid 16th century, during the rule of Duke Johan and Katarina Jagellonica.  Among others, the Renaissance floor was built at that time.

Today the permanent exhibitions in the bailey illustrate the history and culture of Finland, and Turku in particular. - The main bastion houses artefacts from various historical periods. The castle also offers theme exhibitions, concerts and events for children and adults alike.

Children´s Castle
Children find Turku Castle fascinating – after all, it is a genuine medieval castle! The Little Knight’s Tour takes children on adventures around the castle daily during the summer. Please note that prior group booking is required at other times.

Museum Shop Fatapur has a selection of gifts and souvenirs. The shop can also supply proper knight’s gear and informative books.
