Turku Cathedral, located on Unikankare Mound, is Finland's National Shrine.

Turku Cathedral was consecrated as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Finland's first bishop St Henry in 1300.
Today the magnificent details of the Cathedral serve as a record of Finnish history. Laid to rest under the cathedral’s arches are bishops, military commanders and even a queen – Queen Kaarina Maununtytär.

The Cathedral Museum located in the Southern Gallery, takes you back in time through seven centuries of history. The museum exhibits statues of saints and artefacts of Church silver from the Middle Ages.

Other Turku Churches open to the public during the summer include Michael's Church (Puistokatu 16), the medieval Churches of St Catherine (Kirkkotie 46) and St Mary (Maunu Tavastinkatu 2).
