Attracting visitors to the banks of the River Aura, near Turku Castle, is Forum Marinum. As one of the National Specialist Museums, Forum Marinum specialises in Finnish shipping and naval history.
The Maritime museum has changing and permanent exhibitions, a fascinating collection of vessels not to mention a remarkable fleet of museum ships. The fleet includes two large sailing ships, the full-rigger Suomen Joutsen and the barque Sigyn, as well as four warships and a number of small vessels from a harbour tug-boat to a police boat. The ships are only open during summer, but the exhibitions of the Maritime Centre and the Bore-ship are open throughout the year. Forum Marinum is also suitable for meetings and public events. The Museum shop sells gifts and useful items as well as books.
Cafe Restaurant Daphne
Enjoy coffee and lunch at Café Restaurant Daphne, named after the boat. The restaurant can be reserved for companies, groups as well as family celebrations, and provides catering services for the Suomen Joutsen.
