Experience the Museum of History and Contemporary Art on the banks of the River Aura. Aboa Vetus conceals an authentic piece of old Turku. Ars Nova offers an exciting array of exhibitions of contemporary art with Finnish and international artists.

Aboa Vetus
The permanent exhibition of Aboa Vetus gives real insight into life in medieval Turku. The exhibition leads the visitor through the streets of the old Convent Quarter, set amongst the genuine ruins of medieval Turku. Aboa Vetus and Ars Nova is situated on an area where archaeological excavations have been going on since the early 1900s.

The Adventure Tour
The Adventure Tour is the children’s own guided museum tour, arranged by order also in english for the groups. For school-age children, Aboa Vetus offers the Exploration Booklet. Questions and challenges related to the history of the Convent Quarter will lead children to explore old bones as well as write in the medieval way on a wax tablet.

Ars Nova
Ars Nova provides a colourful contrast to old Turku. The diverse 20th century collection of the Matti Koivurinta Foundation includes more than 500 works by leading Finnish and international artists.

Aula Cafe
Located in the museum, Aula, meaning Palace in Latin, is a stylish café and the perfect place for lunch. In the evenings, Aula Cafe provides a great venue for private events.

Open Air Theatre
