Just half an hour's drive from Turku, the unique destination Naantali and its thousand islands offer the perfect holiday blend, as the idyllic old town milieu meets the beauty of the archipalago.
Children particularly love Naantali, with Moominworld and Väski Adventure Island guaranteed favourites.
STEAM TO THE CENTRE OF A LIVING IDYLL
In summer, visitors can sail to Naantali and admire the wonderful archipelago views whilst aboard the Steamship S/S Ukkopekka. From the pier you can see many of the famous sights of Naantali: the Guest Harbour, the medieval Convent Church and the wooden houses of the Old Town. Close by is the Finnish President’s summer residence Kultaranta, offering guided tours of the garden during summer.
For those arriving without a car the guided tours are particularly suitable, taking in the Kultaranta as well as the Old Town.
THE ARCHIPELAGO WITHOUT A BOAT
Archipelago life is in harmony with nature and the seasonal changes, bringing peace and pleasure to all who wander through it’s beauty.
Connecting ferries on the Archipelago Trail are open until the end of September and Nagu can be accessed from Naantali until the end of August. It’s worthwhile taking a bike with you to enjoy the archipelago summer to its full. The best spot for a summer picnic is at the Moomin’s home on the island of Kailo, where there is a quiet beach, a sauna and a grill site great for barbecues.
